Marlin (Baited fish) , The Old Man and Sea

THE MARLIN the baited, giant sized, prized fish is the hero of the sea. It is the main character of the novel. Santiago calls it by the title of brother. It lives, it is injured, and it struggles to save its life. This huge fish lives one mile down in the deep sea. It is very clever fish as it puts the hook on one side of its mouth. The old man fears lest fish jerk again and again through off the hook. We learn a lot about the marlin from the old man.
Santiago drags the marlin with his line to see it. The  marlin jumps out of water and Santiago sees it. It is a huge fish eighteen fit long. It weights fifteen hundred pounds. It has a purple and silver color. Its eyes look like mirrors in a periscope. It is very attractive and dignified. It is a big fish and uses many admirable tricks during its struggle to escape.
The old man says prayers to catch such a big fish. The fish is full-blooded. The old man ready to face death from fish as he says, “I don’t care who kills who”. He is much fascinated by the beauty and bulk of the marlin. He has hooked many marlins before but he has not seen and hooked such a giant fish.
The old man praises the experiences of the marlin. He finds it very difficult to drag the big fish. This is the brave marlin that the old man has hooked and hauled from the depth of the sea.
The Marlin changes images in Santiago’s mind constantly. In the beginning, it is merely baited fish. As Santiago says, “Come on…….make another turn…….eat them, don’t be shy fish.” Them the old man begins to feel a companionship with the giant fish, “fish I will stay with you until I am dead.” The fish appears to him greatest, glorious and wonderful creation. He begins to sympathies with the marlin as his friend. He considers the fish equal to himself ad declares, “I do not care who kills who.” he feels sorry to kill the fish which is his brother. The character of the marlin develops heroically as its greatness and glory are revealed at length.
